Elaine Perkins' Profile

About

As a young girl back in the early 60's I spent many hours with Ditty, my grandmother on my father's side. She taught me many useful things that have served me well through the years. The hours we spent sitting at the quilting frame toughened our fingertips, the sweet memories of sitting on her huge porches crocheting useful things, or darning my grandfathers socks, have all influenced the woman I became. Not only did I learn that women could be productive at home but could be creative as well. As I'm now filling my retirement days with things I love to do, she has rekindled those memories and sparked a fire within. As I now crochet stitch by stitch, creating a one-of-a-kind craft, giving birth to something new through her patient, tender guidance in days gone by I think of her and silently wonder if she knows.
