Eleanor Adair's Profile

About

Studied at Stranmillis College, Queen's University, Belfast, Northern Ireland, and worked as an Art Teacher / Teacher.

I have always loved art and crafts. Since childhood I have created works of art and love making things from ceramics to fabric design, embroidery, batik, photography and printmaking. Anything which is creative interests me, including writing, poetry, music, sewing, cooking, gardening.

Since having my children I didn't get much time for all these things, although I consider the birth of my children my most successful creations. As my children are now in their teens I have found more time and have again started working.
Bright colours interest me and since the age of 9 I have adored the work of Vinvent Van Gogh and other impressionists and expressionists. I love looking through art history books at old masters and modern work…

About

I have always loved art and crafts. Since childhood I have created works of art and love making things from ceramics to fabric design, embroidery, batik, photography and printmaking. Anything which is creative interests me, including writing, poetry, music, sewing, cooking, gardening.

Since having my children I didn't get much time for all these things, although I consider the birth of my children my most successful creations. As my children are now in their teens I have found more time and have again started working.
Bright colours interest me and since the age of 9 I have adored the work of Vinvent Van Gogh and other impressionists and expressionists. I love looking through art history books at old masters and modern work also.

Recently I have had some of my work digitally scanned and produced into Giclee prints, which give an accurate representation of the original on to watercolour textured paper. A local gallery here in Northern Ireland is exhibiting them for me.

A lot of my work is influenced by architecture as I am fasinated by the lines and patterns created in the production of architectural form. I delight in seeing unusual features that others ignore or don't notice. I am also interested in nature and life drawing and painting.

Much of my work is in watercolours and coloured inks. I find it interesting to experience how various washes change and how colours mix and create contrast against each other and take form. I am also intrigued by the simplicity of line drawings in pencil or with pen and ink and how counterbalance plays a part.

If there are any questions you would like to ask about my work, please e-mail me.
I take commissions if there is something you would like me to paint for you.
Work can be framed on request with bespoke frames.
