I am a retired from a money management business that I partially owned for twenty years. I had to retire to take care of my Mom, who has Alzheimers. Since 2009 I have been trying my hand at various crafts--wood carving, sign painting, quilting, and making unique pillows. The pillows began after I made a quilted pillow cover from my son's outgrown clothing--just couldn't throw it away! It turned out so well that I began showing pictures of it to anyone who would look.
Nowadays, I do mostly sign painting but I love to tinker around trying my hand at new crafts. I stumbled upon sign painting and found that I love it. I have had such fun creating custom signs for all kinds of businesses. My customers are wonderful, warm and creative people and it is always a treat to work with each one!
I hope to reflect a passion for doing the best possible job and being open to inspiration each day! I am having fun and hopefully creating something that will bring enjoyment to others! I love my 2 cats, Harry and Sophie Bean! That is me!
P.S. My latest project is to make charred wood (shou sugi ban) window stools for my new shed. It finished charring them in my fire pit yesterday and today applied the first coat of linseed oil. This was an amazing project for me to try. I used red oak because I had three nice pieces of red oak on hand. I wanted window sills for the shed so that at can keep stuff on them in lieu of shelving at the moment. I think it is going to work out. At first, I though I had charred the wood too much but it seems just right. It is black and brown--not perfectly uniform but very unique and dare I say "interesting"! I do like to play with fire!
