Kody "won" his battle with cancer on April 10th 2012. His family has recently started a foundation in his honor, "Chords of Kindness, the Kody Brandon Lucas fund" to help families with children battling cancer. All the proceeds from my shop are used to make custom, one of a kind teddy bears for these children. The bears are donated to Chords of Kindness to be delivered to the kids.

In July 2007 my best friend's son was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor and given a 20% chance of surviving 2 years. When Kody realized he would reach the 2-year mark, he asked me to help him give back to the community that had supported him throughout his journey and began the Annual Kody Lucas Birthday Blood Drive. In three years, he has helped collect 40 GALLONS of blood total for the Middle Georgia Red Cross. He relapsed in May of 2011 and is currently home under hospice care but his amazing outlook on life, lively humor and unwaivering faith are stronger than ever.

I truly believe that Kody is one of God's Angels put on Earth to teach us how to live our lives by example. He inspires me to be a better person. He inspired me to start making prayer beads to donate to the local cancer kids, their parents and the children and families at our local Ronald McDonald House. I decided to open this store and sell them in order to raise funds to help Kody's family with their financial needs and to be able to continue donating prayer beads to those in need of prayers.

Watching Kody throughout his battle, I have realized that the only important things in our lives are the people that touch our lives and the lives that we touch. Childhood cancer is widespread - I can name at least 20 children in the middle Georgia area alone. 46 children are diagnosed with cancer EVERY day in the United States and I have pledged to help spread awareness at every opportunity. Awareness + funding + research = CURE. I have not been blessed with children of my own but now know that it is possible to love someone else's child unconditionally with all of your heart!
