Karen Coulsey Ellis' Profile
I grew up in Portland, OR and have spent the majority of my life here. I began drawing and taking pictures at a young age. In 1984, my dad received a 35mm Minolta for Christmas, which I quickly commandeered and began shooting roll after roll of film. I loved my drawing and photography classes throughout junior high and high school, so I chose to study both in college. I attended Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA, where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with minors in Art History and Psychology in 1995. I became interested in picture framing when I had items framed for my senior art show. Shortly after graduation I began custom framing for a local shop and in 2008, I created Highland Studio where I offer high-end framing by working exclusively with archival materials.
My day to day life is filled with love, laughter, and a crazy house full of boys! Even our dog is a boy . . . I'm…
