About

I have always been fascinated with how something quite plain and simple can be joined with something equally plain and simple and then become a beautiful masterpiece. I find that to be true with any media that I have ever worked with. Whether it’s fabric and thread, paint and canvass, beads and wire or the ingredients in a recipe, each uninteresting part is a masterpiece waiting to be brought forth by the artist’s hands.

I was fortunate to have a rich and wonderful heritage for creating beautiful as well as useful things. My great-grandmother crocheted, tatted and sewed. My grandmother was the master of quilting in her community. My mother was fashion designer extraordinaire and taught me to sew at an early age. All were extremely accomplished chefs. Those lessons laid the foundation for my own appreciation of design and love of making something out of nothing. I really don’t consider myself an artist because I just can’t seem to settle on any one media or art form. In fact, I guess I could be more accurately described as “a jack of all trades and a master of none.” But I have an overwhelming desire to carry on those artistic family traditions and I would love to inspire my children to do the same.

At the present I find joy and contentment in designing jewelry that can be incorporated into the home décor. Embellishing the Home is the venue for that endeavor. My shop is new to ETSY, but I have been a loyal shopper as “Boss2uOK” since 2009. In addition to my ancestors, the ETSY community has been the inspiration behind Embellishing the Home. I am truly amazed by the clever creations you people deliver. Perhaps as you browse my shop, you too will see something that can bring a little bling, sparkle and shine into your home. Welcome!
