Born in the heartland of the USA to a family tradition of sewing, Emily developed an early affinity for textiles and fashion. She began her millinery studies at the London College of Fashion and has a degree in Costume and Textile History from Cornell University in New York. She has worked as a theatrical milliner for the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago and the Santa Fe Opera.
In May 2007 Emily began working in London UK for milliner Philip Treacy. His hats are known for dramatic silhouettes and luxurious finishes. While with Philip, Emily was able to work on hats for the fashion shows of Valentino, Alexander McQueen, Ralph Lauren, and Donna Karen. It is a job that has given her invaluable insight and experience in the exclusive world of couture millinery.
