When I was 5 years old I discovered clay in my kindergarten class, and I fell in love with this amazing material. It seems that I have always been an artist, even when my mother tried to get me to be a veterinarian. I began carrying around a small white jewelry box with clay so I could practice making kangaroos.

Majoring in art through college, I earned a BFA, from Alfred University, College of Ceramics,(one of the best schools in the country for study of all things clay),and then graduate degrees, an MA and MFA from the University of Iowa.

When people tell me that my cups, bowls, teapots and other items are their favorites, that makes me very happy. My collectors tell me that they bought many items for "gifts" and kept it all for themselves, unable to part with my work.
Other activities: Cross country skiing, painting with encaustics, drawing, hiking, reading,
training my dog, Lobos, and hanging out with my darling wife, Judith.
