Erica Wildman's Profile

About

I spent most of my life oblivious to my artistic talents, despite growing up in an extremely talented family. I had dabbled in various creative pursuits but never took anything seriously. Instead, I spent most of my life working in Real Estate Finance.

In 2006, my life changed by a fluke of circumstances. Tired of looking at my blank walls in my office in San Francisco I decided to do something about it. I really wanted something to fill the space that was colorful but wouldn't cost me a fortune. When I couldn't find what I was looking for I decided to do it myself! I said, "what the heck" and went to the art store and bought canvas, paintbrushes and some paints. I had no idea what to do, how to do it or what I wanted but I was determined to make something. However, I did learn early on that I do NOT like painting with brushes (I enjoy using kitchen utensils instead)…

However, I did learn early on that I do NOT like painting with brushes (I enjoy using kitchen utensils instead) and LOVE LOVE LOVE super huge canvas. I ended up painting two rather large pieces and hung them in my office a couple of weeks later.

Some time after a gentleman came in and asked about the paintings. He wanted to know who the artist was. Sorta embarrassed, I raised my hand. Lucky lucky me, he owned a small gallery in San Francisco and asked me to hang my art there. I was scared to death because I knew NOTHING about art but I thought, if he believed, I can believe.

Fast forward 6 years and I am now a professional artist. I have been selling my art professionally (meaning I have no other job :) now for 3 years. My art has been featured on HGTV's Buy and Sell with the Property Brothers and featured in several publications around Austin.

I feel blessed to be in a place where my rent money comes from my creative outlet.

Thank you to all my believers!
