I have always loved to make things. I made my first clay pot in nursery school and years later became a professional potter. As my son was growing up I made most of the gifts I gave while making log cabin quilts for all my relatives, shirts for my husband and son and skirts and vests for me. I then went to college, majored in English and minored in art, trying wood carving, jewelry making, and sculpture along the way. I have returned to two of my first loves; sewing and quilting and am enjoying my new freedom after retiring from education.
I love the feel of textiles and the clean fresh smell of cotton. I love the rainbow effect of the color wheel when walking into a quilt shop, bolt upon bolt of color bleeding into color.
