I was raised in San Diego, California, but moved
to Mahnomen, MN population, 1,200! (Update!) I am now living in Fargo, ND! Yes I've made it back to civilization!! Oh yea!! AND I live on restaurant row! OMG...I have not had a REAL restaurant around me for 4 years except a "Burger Hut" that's only open a few months.

Early in life my goals were:

1. Makeup/Hair Design

I used to lop off my Barbie dolls hair
and they ended up sporting mohawks. I smeared
makeup on them and polished their nails!!
Later in life I achieved this goal by
becoming a Makeup Artist and working in
Film, Television, Print, The Miss Universe Pageant (with Donald Trump),
Miss Asian Pageant, childrens pageants, fashion shows and teaching at the
International Talent Network.

2. Chef/Baker

I achieved that by starting a catering
business that I had for 10 years as a side
business. My biggest client? The San Diego
Chargers Football Christmas parties.

3. Flower Design

I achieved that by creating and selling hand
made wreaths which I have sold for more than
10 years at craft shows and home parties.

4. Interior Design

I help friends with their homes...but veered
off to Jewelry Design completely by accident,
literally! I had a foot injury and met a woman named Kathy
in a pain therapy class who wanted to learn
crocheting and knitting. So I taught her that
and she taught me how to make jewelry.

I don't know what is next for me, but my passion for the past 10 years has been
designing and creating new jewelry pieces...but I still want to learn cake
decorating, maybe I can take a class....

Native American.....

I have to say a few words about this.
I always knew I had Native American blood. It was never around me though.
I knew my mom was raised on a reservation, but that's it. She moved to California
when she was 19 with her brother. Since moving here to the rez, I have learned
a lot about this tribe...my tribe. I am an enrolled member of the Mississippi Band
of Chippewa Indians. This is a culture shock for me....coming from the cement jungle
of 3 million people in San Diego, California, I felt completely lost!! No more taco stands
open at 2 AM...no more movie theaters...no more anything that I was used to. The one
thing that I have now is this, Native American culture, Native American food, Native
American people. Their day to day lives, their way of life. Being here has inspired
me to create their jewelry. I got to go to my first Pow Wow...how colorful, how beautiful,
the music, the dancing, the people, MY people.

Thanks for stopping by!
