Trace M.'s Profile

About

Hello, my name is Trace Matthews. I'm currently seventeen years old and a senior in high school. I have always enjoyed being creative and this is simply an outlet for all of my artsy endeavors. While this may be something I do for fun, my parents are fully involved with my shop and aware of all sales. Once upon a time, I stumbled upon Etsy. Since then, things have never quite been the same. Seeing all of the various items and sellers promoting their wares really inspired me. One key area of the site, the books and zines category, really caught my attention. The hand bound journals intrigued me so much and piqued my interest to learn more about the craft. I immediately searched my library and YouTube for anything related to making hand bound journals. After discovering a technique that could be used with covers from old books, I was immediately sold. I love to plunder through thrift shops and yard sales, and recycling items into something new has always been something I enjoy. Since then I have been creating these recycled journals whenever I have the time between school, extracurricular activities, and spending time with friends and family.
