Fiona Douglas' Profile

About

The Douglas sisters are descended from many generations of people who worked with their hands: drawing/painting, glass work, seamstresses, knitters, ceramics and carpentry – many of which we have tried ourselves over the years!
As sisters we have a unique relationship and when working together. Friendly criticism enables us to take ideas and designs to new levels as we build on themes and create more dynamic pieces of work. We experiment with pattern, shape, form, texture and colour.
The natural world is also important to us – the changing seasons, the colours and shapes found in everyday objects. Our own children’s drawings can also form the foundation for some work.
Recycling materials ceramics, fabric and textiles is important in our more environmentally aware world. Using things we find, things others are going to throw out and things people keep for us!
