Eleanor Flower's Profile
I've loved making things since I was little when my mum first introduced me to her sewing machine. Since then I have taught myself knitting, crochet, counted cross stitch, embroidery and kumihimo.
In 2012 I decided to put some of my skills to a different use - millinery. I enrolled in short course at my local FE college, which I rapidly swapped to a longer qualification course. I found I loved designing and making hats so much that I wanted to try to turn this passion into a home business.
The two things I love most about millinery are the attention to detail (almost every part of a hat needs to be hand sewn) and the variety of techniques and materials. I'm very much inspired by materials, especially when it comes to trimming a hat. I'm definitely more an experimental designer, than one who draws detailed sketches…
