To my left, I see steel grey English longwool fiber I'm spinning on a Russian style spindle by Lisa Chan of grippingyarn.com, along with a labradorite pendant, a book about ravioli, a pen, a blueberry cookbook, a small basket of fiber, my desk lamp, and a large spool of cotton weaving yarn in a lovely medium green. Behind that, a corkboard filled with pictures, cards, a drawknife, old photos, a parlor guitar, and a basket of yarn. Beyond that, a vase filled with tin whistles.

Above me, more spindles, a collection of little bowls for spinning, a stuffed vulture (not a real one) who watches over the words I write, a handcarved Monk of sorts who watches over the vulture. To my right, a slate mantle, a fireplace, a mirror, my reference books I cannot live without, and one of my spinning wheels, Lucy. There's also an accordion right around the corner, but that's a different tale for another time.

I write stories, mostly rural fantasy set in small town Ohio. I bake bread. I spin my own yarn. I am a maker; I make dolls, jewelry, spindles, and all sorts of other things. I am fascinated by any hint of folklore or the supernatural.

I believe in the power of midnight and dusk and dawn. And let's not forget noon.

One of these days, I will live in a small stone cottage in the middle of a forest with only a small cleared space for a garden. Right now, I live in a large old house with five cats who sometimes allow me to believe that I am in charge and my garden's in the front yard because that's the best place for it.

My webpage is www.jenstclair.com, and I am also jennifer on ebay. I have a blog at disorganization.blogspot.com, and usually update every day.
