Nancy Pihera's Profile

About

The Kitties and I decided to create jewelry a few years ago, when I discovered their unique talents. It was a beautiful spring morning. I was sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee, some silver and some beads that I had collected in Indonesia. Violet, Dewi and Bes began to arrange bits and pieces carefully on the kitchen floor. I stared in amazement, then worked up some of their suggested projects. I knew immediately that we were onto something.

As the Kitties acquired tools and accouterments we moved from the crowded kitchen table to a real studio. We hired two new Kitties, Veronika and Mona, who now oversee our cafeteria, catnip vending machines and fitness programs. Although I bill us as "Nancy and the Kitties," the truth is that I am merely the mouthpiece for the enterprise. Our inspiration and innovation is purely feline. And everything is one-of-a-kind.

(Their attention span is just too short to do the same thing twice.)

The Kitties and I welcome custom orders. We love to make bridal jewelry, bridesmaids' accessories and corporate gifts. Be aware, however, that the Kitties can be rather temperamental designers. Sometimes they think inside The Box, sometimes outside. (Same with The Bag. And The Cabinet. And The Dryer.) I will make every effort to insure that your custom work is to your liking; and, if you are unhappy with any KittyCraft, it will be cheerfully (on my part - the Kitties, not so much) replaced, repaired or refunded.

Nancy's Disclaimer: I use beads and stones from far and wide and vintage odds-n-ends in my jewelry because I like the way they look. I am not a gemologist, or a geologist, or a mineralogist or any other type of "-ogist." I am not even a rockhound. I couldn't tell Abkhazite from Zeolite if that was the very last question on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire." I love to learn about my beads and embellishments, and question my vendors rigorously. I will tell you what I know about anything I include in my work, but I have not personally acid-tested, streak-tested, fracture-tested or otherwise analyzed the bits and pieces. If the pedigree of any part is of special concern to you, I will be glad to do further research.
