About

I'm a self-taught artist who works in a variety of mediums, from paper, paint and collage, to crochet, leather and stained glass. Right now, I'm really interested in book binding, ephemera and collage work. I'm new to Etsy, but I started on eBay, where I now have over 430 feedback points (100% positive).

A Note About my Vintage Cover Hand-Bound Books:
I'm a total bibliophile, and have been collecting old books for a number of years. As someone who haunts old book stores, it always makes me sad to find old books that have been torn, colored in, edited with markers, endpapers ripped, with pages and text blocks hanging out, covers dirty and stained. I feel a great affinity with these old treasures, and a certain curiosity; Who owned you before? Why were you so mistreated? Or were you so treasured and beloved that…

Or were you so treasured and beloved that you simply fell apart from so much reading? And if you were so beloved, how on earth did you end up at the thrift store or yard sale? Did your previous owner die? Were you then simply discarded, your value unseen by newer generations?

Whatever their story, I have a difficult time passing these lovelies by. Recently, I've decided to rescue some, and give them the opportunity for a new life. I take out old, ripped text blocks, remove the pages that are unsalvageable, and clean up the cover as well as I can. I then add new pages - sketch papers, and sometimes art papers and tracing papers - new endpapers, and bookmarker ribbons. With the bumps and bruises that cannot be removed, these old friends retain the mystery of their past so that, perhaps, a new owner will see their value, fill them with their own words and images, and treasure them for years to come.

My VINTAGE COVER BOOKS contain plain unlined sketch papers and, if salvageable, some text (and sometimes illustrations) from the original book;

My DELUX VINTAGE COVER BOOKS are the upscaled version of my Vintage Cover Books, and either contain art papers and tracing paper along with plain unlined sketch papers and some text (and sometimes illustrations) from the original book; OR they are large or extra thick; some also have embellished bookmarker ribbons;

My VINTAGE DUST JACKET BOOKS are the same as my Vintage Cover Books, with the exception that they are made from salvaged old dust jackets;

(For those of you who don't know, a Dust Jacket is the paper wrapper that comes on most new hardback books that you can buy in the bookstore. It usually has some kind of picture or graphic design on the front, and reviews on the flaps. I've found that, once adhered to book board, they make excellent hardback covers themselves!)

My VINTAGE WALLPAPER BOOKS are made from old wallpaper, and contain plain unlined sketch papers;

My RESTORED VINTAGE BOOKS are exactly that - old books that are falling apart that I've refurbished by restitching and reattaching to their original covers, adding bookmarkers and endpapers, so that now some new owner can read and love them;

With the exception of my Vintage Restored Books, all my books come with a removable writing guide that has lines on one side and a grid on the other.
