Ginger Patterson

I am an artist, writer, and a lover of living a local-focused, sustainable lifestyle. I have always been inspired by nature and the natural world. Even as a child, I was always outside observing nature.

Another love of mine is fibearts of all kinds. This passion began about 35 years ago and has grown ever since. It keeps me busy during the winter months. I enjoy spinning, tapestry weaving, and dyeing all of the elements in my creations.

People always ask about the name "Wild Ginger". That has a story behind it. In 2014, I was hiking through Mohican State Forest with a Park Naturalist and we walked through a humongous patch of wild ginger. She said, "Look, it's Wild Ginger in wild ginger." A little later I was leading the group through the patch and we met another person on the trail. He asked what we were doing and my friend replied, "Just chasing wild ginger through the wild ginger." That is what I became known as from that day forwared. The photo used in my banner is one of the wild ginger plants that I photographed on that day.
