Kristen Fisher's Profile
Glacier Glass Works is a husband wife team. We are both borosilicate glass lampworkers starting in 1996. We melt, smash, blow, bend, push, pull, and shape the heated glass. We use oxygen and propane to heat our torches, in turn melting the glass. When the glass piece is done, we put it in our kiln to free the glass of internal stress, making it very strong.
Pyrex and Corning are both brand names of borosilicate glass, or heat resistant glass. Think about the glass used in your kitchen. Borosilicate glass is worked at a higher temperature as well as kilned higher, making it wicked strong.
We live in the small mountain town of Maple Falls, WA in Whatcom County. We started our business in Glacier, WA in 2002. Creating and working with our hands is almost a necessity.
