About

I have nursed sick people for many years, mostly as a staff RN in a busy CCU. There, I learned how the skin affects and is affected by all other body systems. I have seen many people have skin problems and began having a few of my own. Stubborn (Dutch) by nature, I refused to be satisfied with what the commercially made soaps and lotions weren't doing for my chronic dry skin. I stumbled upon a book on soap making and read it cover to cover.

I learned about the fascinating chemical reaction between lye and fat that create soap and the natural glycerin which makes it emollient, moisturizing and so necessary for healthy skin.

I was interested to learn that glycerin is extracted from commercially made soaps and sold for other uses. With the added synthetic scents and stabilizers (read their labels!) I finally understood why even the most popular "beauty bars" left my skin tight and irritated.

So I took a deep breath and made my first batch of soap. It wasn't very pretty but it left my skin so soft and moisturized! That was about 6 years ago and I haven't had dry skin since.

I work fulltime now researching and creating all natural skin care products. If you care about what you use on your skin you will be pleased to find our gentle, all vegetable soaps, nourishing lotions and restoring oils.

For the past couple years I have also become fascinated with the therapeutic effects of herbs and essential oils and now am studying to become an herbalist! Check out my selection of essential oil blends that I have created for an all natural alternative to help ease pain, relieve congestion, repel insects or even scent a room!
