I have been collecting unique and odd items since my childhood, growing up on a farm in Iowa. My parents were products of the depression, and they taught their children to value their possessions. The simple family heirlooms were the most valued.
I so respect the age of an item. The distance of time gives us the chance to look at ordinary items with a sense of perspective and a more discriminating eye. An ad for Ivory soap would barely catch your eye in a current magazine but go back thirty years, and you notice hairstyles, background colors, and themes that today would seem... well, retro.
