About

Artist’s statement: My work attempts to reconcile the idea of “living in the moment” with the fact and feeling of persistent mortality. Happiness is constantly tainted by the knowledge that the source of that happiness will eventually fade, decay, and disappear. Life is beautiful because it so fleeting. I employ images of flowers and butterflies to embody the idea of the delicate nature and temporality of life. I also like using vintage photographs and papers, because I feel they already have that implication of loss, mystery, and of previous history. To me, these compilations are as hopeful as they are tragic.
