Dorothy Lewis' Profile

About

To know me is to know of my love for our Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus Christ. This is most important to me and my life revolves around it. My desire is to glorify my Heavenly Father in all that I do. This keeps me motivated to design and make products that I believe are pleasing to Him and that I hope my customers will love, and to make them well.

I have been blessed with lots of creativity and, a keen eye for fashion which I love. When I began this journey of designing and making products to sell, I was lead to sustainable designs. I will continue to make sustainability a huge part of my business by continuing to use reclaimed, recycled or repurposed materials. I have been blessed with lots of creativity and, a keen eye for fashion which I love. When I began this journey of designing and making products to sell, I was lead to sustainable designs. I will continue to make sustainability a huge part of my business by continuing to use reclaimed, recycled or repurposed materials. It is more time consuming to make products from recycled and reclaimed materials as much time is spent putting items together from all the found treasures -- which I thoroughly enjoy. It also limits how many identical items can be made. This works out great for customers who like one of a kind product or limited number of identical items.

I will not date myself; however, my journey begun in Jamaica where I taught myself to sew out of necessity some years ago. I had very little money but loved fashion and wanted to look and be stylish. So I taught myself to sew and did not have a tape measure. I would look at a picture and make my own design and pattern. I drew my patterns on newspaper and then would hold it up against my body. If it looked like it would fit I would then cut it. I sewed more from sight. It worked great! I continued teaching myself and made most of my clothes for many years even after coming to the States.

My sincere wish for all who read this profile is that they will have guidance and direction from our Heavenly Father through his son Jesus the Christ-- He is the door and He is the light.
