ABOUT ME: Greetings from the northern California valley. My name is Karen and I was Minnesota born and raised and now reside in sunny California. Drawn to the arts and crafts since I was a little girl, I have opened a shop with all paper-craft items, featuring Kusudama origami flowers, which I love to create!

My love of the Asian culture began when I was young and worked for an honest and kind Chinese man. I was introduced to the Japanese people and their culture and customs when my daughter and her Navy husband were stationed in Japan. I observed this hard working people, their respect, their traditions, their celebrations, and their ancient crafts. When I returned to America and came upon the craft of paper folding called origami, and specifically the beautiful Kusudama origami flower, I sought instructions for paper folding this beautiful treasure. And so began my adventure with origami.

Kusudama origami is an ancient Asian craft involving the cutting of four, five, or even six squares of various sizes of paper, folding and gluing each square into a petal and eventually assembling all petals together to form a beautiful flower.

In my creations I strive to hand fold original kusudama flowers with stamens and stems, buttons, or jewels included, each with different shapes of petals. I use embossing techniques and many different forms of paper in my shop. My hope is that you will spend time in my shop enjoying a 'different' variety of Kusudamas and personally relish a bit of this grand and very old Japanese craft.
