About

Well, my name's not Grace. It's Heather. :) "Grace" is what I aim for in each creative endeavor: grace in design rhythm, grace in color harmony, grace in the overall look of each work. "Studios" refers to my two mixed-media interests: 3D collage and jewelry.

I graduated from Connecticut College in 1999 with a BA in Studio Art. Since then, I have moved to North Carolina and have been making art and jewelry for sale, exhibition and gifts. My art is in private collections in several states and my jewelry is in collections in the U.S. and far beyond.

As mentioned briefly at the top of my page, I was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer in November of 2013, and after 8 chemos, one surgery, and 20 radiation sessions, I was declared "No Evidence of Disease" in July of 2014. If I can be a resource for anyone dealing…

If I can be a resource for anyone dealing with a cancer diagnosis, or with a loved one who has cancer, please don't hesitate to convo me. I hope to make this experience less lonely and more hopeful for others, and I have great tips to offer. :)

Back to the work: The pieces you see in my shop are one of a kind in the truest sense: made only once and never made again. I do not duplicate any of the designs; the materials I use I often only find once. (Besides, I would get bored!) The closest I come to duplication is to do a design in two different colors, and even that is rare. This ensures that the piece you own is the only one that exists.

I am fascinated by, and appreciative of, people's individual histories -- the experiences that make us who we are, and what others can potentially learn from them. This appreciation inspires the individual and detailed nature of my works. That said, I'm also in favor of "art for art's sake." Life is short, and sometimes I'll take a color or form and just run with it for fun.

I make each piece as though it's going to a loved one: with optimum quality, as strong as possible, and with ease of wear in mind. Please see my Policies for notes on the care of your one-of-a-kind jewelry. And please convo me for any other questions or comments.

Thank you for visiting Grace Studios Art. I hope you love what you see!

Best Wishes,
Heather
