I've always been crafty. I remember my mother teaching me to sew when I was in the second grade. I didn't get to use a machine, just a needle and thread, but it made me feel so important to be able to make skirts for my barbie dolls. A few years later, my sisters and I were creating full on fashions with my mom's leftover fabric and old sheets, on my grandmother's old Sears sewing machine. We felt like trendsetters, in the basement, trying on our fashions. I have been hooked on "scratch" crafts since...sewing, crochet, knitting, baking, paper making, candle making, soap making.
Now I'm an adult. Sometimes I look back and wonder where I went wrong. I spend 40+ hours working at a desk and with clients, doing a job that I find doesn't fulfill me in the way I want. I want more, and I crave that crafting life I once had when I was younger: discovering new stitches, patterns, methods,…
