For many years I worked as an in-house graphic designer, communications professional, and art/publications director. But in 2009 I returned to my studio-art roots and began painting again. It felt like remembering how to breathe.
My primary subject is the human figure in light and space. I also enjoy the occasional still life and landscape, along with owls and pussycats (a shared personal symbol for my husband and me).
When asked whether I work from life, from photos, or from my imagination, my answer is always, "yes." The reference photos I use are nearly all photos I've taken myself or was present for, and they are always altered, recombined, and elaborated in Photoshop before painting.
