When I was a kid, I wanted a dog. My mom wouldn't let me have one. I said I'd take care of it and pay for everything. She mentioned that I didn't (and couldn't yet) get a job. My dad was always into woodworking, so he taught me how to use the scroll saw. I started by making little animal magnets and selling them at craft fairs. I saved some money and my mom let me get the dog. I paid for my beloved dog on craft fair (and birthday) money alone until I was old enough to get a "real" job.
I use reclaimed or scrap wood almost exclusively (the wheels on the toys and dowels are the only new wood I use). All of it is high quality solid wood. I use non toxic paints and for my outdoor signs I seal them with a high quality exterior non toxic varnish. My packaging is as low impact and low waste as it can be while safely being shipped.
