Margaret Goodson's Profile

About

We makes craftsman quality, handmade jewelry, at an affordable price, that you can wear all day, without fear of losing it.

Before working in a fine arts gallery, the owner of Gritgoods, Margaret Goodson, didn't even wear much jewelry. Anything she loved was too expensive, anything she could afford broke easily and all of it required some fashion sense to put it together with the best outfit.

It has been her goal as a jewelry artist to create jewelry to be worn by active women, who plant gardens, play with their kids, run and cycle and do yoga, go to work, and go out with friends to dance all in the same pair of earrings. Wear something classic and simple to pair with some jeans and a t-shirt OR a nice dress, wear something handmade with GENUINE STONES without it being too expensive and wear something that stays in your ears or around your neck or wrist!…

We use strong chain, lobster clasps and lever back ear wires for security, genuine stones and natural materials for beauty, classic designs for the love of simplicity, and gunmetal (which we love the look of because it looks like oxidized sterling) to keep prices affordable.

We hope you find Gritgoods Jewelry gives you the freedom to live your active lifestyle, on a budget and still look your best. Get gritty, stay pretty.

Margaret Goodson studied ceramics at UNC Asheville, earned her B.A. in Art in 2002, and then really fell in love with jewelry after working at the Gallery of the Mountains in the Grove Park Inn in 2004. After years of exploring her own jewelry designs, including taking a metalsmith class, she found inspiration in combining unlikely elements, like dark gunmetal with colorful stones and seeds and nuts with faceted gems. Her combination of expensive stones with inexpensive metal is also unique. Margaret also enjoys designing with both linear and organic elements, similar to the artwork in her childhood home by M.C. Escher and Georgia O'Keeffe.
