In the summer of 1974 while my mom was at work, I decided to make my sister a pair of red overalls. They were an utter disaster, but my sister wore them anyway. After that, my mom realized I was serious about sewing. I had always loved the sound of the machine and loved watching my mom create beautiful clothes.
By the time I started high school, I was making much of my wardrobe. In my late 20s, I caught the quilting bug. Then one day about 15 years ago, I made my first bag. My love for making bags began and hasn't waned. I love searching for fabric and coordinating fabrics in a perfect combination.
Making bags is a family tradition, my grandfather was a handbag designer in Los Angeles during the 1940s and 50s. I hope if he was alive today, he'd be proud of my work.
