My name is Chris Hardwick. I'm a leather botteller and operate the leather side of our business. Together with my wife Michele Lukowski we are Hardwick Housewares.

The craft of making leather vessels has been around for thousands of years and really blossomed into a recognized craft and trade in medieval England where leather vessels were the norm.

As other materials were regarded as undesirable or too costly for the general population, leather vessels were made in large numbers.

Botteller's guilds, separate from cordwainer's guilds did much to promote the craft and establish very high standards for materials and workmanship.

I'm proud to be practicing and promoting this ancient craft. I hope that my work and that of others can help to restore interest in durable handmade goods in our disposable culture.

I am constantly working on new designs, experimenting with new materials and processes. In time I hope to be able to take the craft of leather bottelling to a new level, to build on the mastery of the medieval craftsmen, and make the drinking vessel a functional work of art.

That being stated, I firmly believe that my work should speak for itself. It is a statement of my dedication to quality, innovation, and artistic expression. Every vessel is made by my own hands and takes with it a piece of me.

Peace, love and yummy goodness.
