Harry and the Hippie Chic is so excited to have joined ETSY! yehhh!! :)

I have been sewing since I was a teenager, I would make myself all of my own clothing, it was a cross between Cyndi Lauper and Madonna. I grew up in New Jersey, but my stomping grounds was NYC. I have many found memories of the fabulous club scene...Fun House, Sound Factory, Palladium, Mars, Studio 54, Latin Quarters, Roxy, Lucky Strikes and many more...I love creating and salvaging unwanted items.

I have two industrial sergers, and one industrial sewing machine. I take lots of pride in my work. I make arm warmers, scarves, headbands, jackets, hoodies, ponchos, leg warmers, leg warmers, handbags, etc...of recycled knits and jerseys (& anything else I can find)...I try not to waste anything, I believe anything & everything can be recycled - you just need to add a…

I have always been yearned to be free in the country, so excited I am no longer chained to a desk in an office environment...I worked eighteen years in the fashion industry in NYC...no it was not easy & I am a bit burnt out, so a few years ago, we decided to move to the Catskill Mountains & let my crazy spirit, kids and dogs run free...you only have one life & we should all live it doing what makes us the happiest...for me that is sewing, painting, drawing, collecting vintage (which I LOVE) & spending time with my husband "Harry", three kids, and my dogs Belle & Chanel...we are part hippie & part gypsy...that's a great mix...so does that make us "hipsys" ?

We just purchased an old relic...Victorian house, we refer to it as the money pit..., the kids refer to it as the haunted house. It needs lots and lots of paint and some tlc, hope to have it completed within a few years :D
