Ruby Tangerine is a brain child that has had an outrageously long gestation period. After leaving high school I spent some time in East Timor and was profoundly affected by the inspiring people I met and their lives that are so vastly different from my own. I had (and still have) a lot to learn from these people but much of the living conditions and psychological hardship I saw left me first deeply humbled, moved and saddened, but second, thoroughly motivated to make sure my mark on this world as an adult would be a positive one and that I would not take my opportunities for granted.

I have always loved art and believed in its power to create happiness in spaces and evoke thought, as well as loved sharing some bits and pieces with my friends and family. Receiving some really positive feedback and a few requests for my friend's bedrooms made it occur to me that maybe my art could be something that more people could do with having around.

I started my Instagram @rubytangerine as a bit of a secret test. The positive feedback of total strangers encouraged me to continue refining my work and share it with friends and family too. It occurred to me that I might be able to sell some things and even possibly one day make profit that I could use to do this big bad world a little more good.

I have a lot to learn. I'm inspired by so many creatives, humanitarians, leaders, businesses and activists. I believe happy little bits of art to brighten your space or make someone smile should be affordable. I believe that business can be a very powerful agent of change and social good. I'm not where I aim to be (I'm not even exactly sure where that is). I'd say that I've barely begun really. But I'm glad to report that I'm on my way and that I decided that I could not wait until I was 'ready'.

I hope you find something you love and I look forward to chatting with you.

Peace x
