About

I have been knitting, weaving, crocheting since I was 6 years old and making my own designs. I started sewing at the young age of 8. My mother was my inspiration for sewing/designing. She would be cutting out fabric when we were getting ready to go to bed at night and the next morning we would awake to her amazing creations. My grandmother was the one who inspired my fiber arts and love for living in the Michigan woods. I am left-handed so it was a chore for her to teach me to crochet and my father taught me to knit. I still weave with my grandmother's loom and think of her every time I make a new creation and how proud she would be to see them all.

I have been an organic gardener my whole adult life. I have always lived my life by the seasons. Plant in the Spring, garden through to fall and harvest, harvest, harvest and then weave, knit, crochet, sew, and paint through the winter. I…

I designed my harvesting aprons out of NEED and love for harvesting. There was nothing on the market in 1996 and I started sketching out what I wanted. I would send my creations to my sister to try out as well and then we would discuss our thoughts and over the last several years the harvesting aprons have evolved into a great product, now more affordable. I started making the kitchen aprons at the same time as I was always reaching for my hand towel and wanted it right in front of me. I still have my very first original aprons and use them daily. They wash and wear wonderfully. Because harvesting was always a family event, I just had to create an apron for my children, nieces, nephews, now grandchildren, etc. At the time, I resided in MI. 25 years of harvesting veggies, cherries, blueberries, apples, herbs, etc...Hence came the trademark, "Mary's Harvest Thyme Aprons™" with © on all my designs!

The past 13 years I have lived in NM, my "heaven on earth" and continue to sell my line of aprons along with the many creations for family wearing and adorning the home, office, classroom, etc. I love holidays and have always made and sold creations for holiday decorating.

My mother always told us "Busy hands are Happy hands" and that is why I am always busy and so happy with every creation that I design and make.

I feel that if I create something that makes your life easier, or keeps you warm and cozy and is fun to wear, makes you stand out, or causes you to smile when you walk in the room because you are looking at one of my Snowmen, or an ornament, etc. then I have been successful! I have used the gift that God has given me and shared it with you and countless people all across America and Canada over the years.

Nature is my inspiration for color and texture. I love hand-dyed yarns and fun texture. I frequent Espanola Fiber Arts, Tierra Wools, and The Yarn Shop here in NM for yarns dyed with native plants and/or interesting textures. For those who are allergic to wools, I make a variety of cotton, acrylic items. NM is the "Land of Enchantment" and I blend colors from the vistas I see in the sky, the native plants growing all around me, the colors of our mesas and mountains. I am inspired daily!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my store! I always welcome custom orders!

Happy Harvesting!
Mary
