Erin Campbell's Profile

About

Hi, my name is Erin Campbell. I specialize in designing one-of-a-kind jewelry out of recycled leather and other appropriated materials. I live in Seattle and hand make all of my pieces from home.
I am originally from Northern Michigan, where I grew up on a potato farm. I come from a long tradition of hand-me-downs, arts & crafts, and making trash into treasure. My childhood home was outfitted almost entirely by things my mom found in the barn, washed off and brought inside. Both the rustic look and worn-in appeal of my jewelry can be attributed to my modest upbringing.
I have always had a love of things old and second-hand. Through my many hours spent in thrift stores, antique shops, and garage sales I stumbled upon my craft. The name Hawkeye Jewelry references the nature of my creative process. I enjoy the thrill of hunting down materials and spotting the potential in things that others may not see. When making an aesthetic decision, I act quickly and decisively, always going with my gut -- the textures, shapes and sizes that I use in my designs are also very instinctual. Each piece of jewelry is approached with a playful and investigative eye, one often leading to another -- and many times my mistakes evolving into later designs.
I strive to achieve a balance between feminine and masculine, crude and delicate, natural and man-made in all of my jewelry; it is intended to capture the attention of someone who is adventurous, fun, and not afraid of making a statement. I hope you enjoy!
