Hands to work, Heart to God!

The "backdrop" for my work involves the fictional town of Heartfelt around the time of 1881. In truth, this is about the time my Danish great-grandparents came to America. Working with this in mind, my mind wanders back into their time when unskilled laborers lived by their wits, brawn and common sense to keep a homestead.

A common old phrase was "Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without." So it goes with my preparing of "prims". Striving for an authentic and old look, I rework wooden finds to give them the feeling of long ago. With the help of my husband's trade, we make many of our goods from beginning to end. Old…

A common old phrase was "Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without." So it goes with my preparing of "prims". Striving for an authentic and old look, I rework wooden finds to give them the feeling of long ago. With the help of my husband's trade, we make many of our goods from beginning to end. Old wire, rusty nails ... there's nothing too old for me to use.
My daughter wrote this:
Where "Prim" is Proper ...
Light a candle, and turn off the lights ... RELAX ... and enjoy a trip through my rustic and primitive listings.
No TV, no telephones.
Smell the candle burning?
Hear the crackling of the fire?
Peaceful and serene ... at least, that's where "prims" take me - back to days when life was so much simpler. A handshake closed the deal. Days were only from sun up to sun down. The fireplace was the heart of the home, a candle and a lantern lit the evening and families would sit and talk about the day. Imagine that. Smell that wonderful hickory burning and feel its warmth?

This is why we've chosen to design these rustic, and heartfelt primitives. They're a product that's been made by our hands, and there's a special feeling that comes from this.
We hope we pass this feeling on to you and that they give you the same feeling as they give us ... that time when families bonded in working together with chores that needed to be done, and felt a sense of satisfaction that they had all been accomplished. We go back to those times when a wagon and a horse were the only way to get from home to town. We hope these simple things "take you back in time" to those gentle days.

God bless you and yours!
