Welcome to Alchemy Lampwork.

I'm Helen Wyatt and I make unique glass lampwork beads from my small home in Hampshire, United Kingdom. I am proud be a Self Representing Artist, #W119, which is a guarantee that when you buy from me, you will be buying something that is one of a kind - not mass produced.

I first discovered lampwork glass beads many years ago, and was fascinated by their beautiful colours and shimmering designs. In 2008, I began making my own jewellery, but it did not fully give me the creative challenge I was looking for. I tried Silver Clay work, but didn't really have a flair for it, and then by accident stumbled upon details of an introductory course in lampworking, and decided to give it a go.

From the very first day I was hooked - although many months of frustration followed as I learnt how to work glass so that something pleasing came out at the end.

Since then, I have fortunately improved and become fully immersed in the world of glass - and I've also discovered that lampworking is the most addictive thing in the world. Although I have a full-time "proper" job, you will still find me over the flame a couple of times a week, much to the annoyance of my 2 cats, who don't like the noise of the torch!

All beads that you see in my shop have been made by melting glass rods in a flame, combining them with other colours and working the glass in different ways to produce unique results. The beads are then annealed in a kiln overnight, which prevents the glass from getting "stressed" during cooling, thus adding strength. I very rarely re-make the same design twice (I have the attention span of a goldfish!) so you will be truly buying something unique when you buy from me.

I hope that my beads will inspire you in the same way that they inspire me on a daily basis when I look at them.....

Thank you for looking.
