Mary B Hetz
Nature, with its beautiful organic forms and shapes seems magical to me. It’s guided my vision as a successful jewelry designer, entrepreneur and collector of vintage jewelry for over forty years.
I am a lover of animals and find beauty and appreciation of natural objects and processes, imperfect as they may sometimes seem.
I got my start in the fashion industry and have been a jewelry and belt designer and manufacturer for over forty years. My career began in my late twenties working and designing for a fashion-forward jewelry company in Los Angeles. In 1978, I moved from Los Angeles to San Diego (with my husband and daughter) and started my own wholesale jewelry company. I became known for designing unique handmade beaded animal belts, as well as earrings, necklaces, pins, bracelets and hair accessories. I sold to major retailers and upscale boutiques in the US and Europe. My ‘wearable art’ belts were hand signed ‘Mary B Hetz’, (I was also known as Mary B) and featured in fashion magazines, books and catalogues around the world.
As well as beaded jewelry, in the mid 1980's, I designed a successful collection of sterling silver and 18k gold vermeil jewelry. Using the lost wax method of casting, I sculpted my waxes using a unique technique that created texture...this gave each piece an organic or hammered look and feel.
Some of my collectible belts and jewelry may be listed from other vendors on Etsy...and now, here in my own shop.
Hope you enjoy my collection of vintage jewelry from both myself and others. Please favorite my shop if you like what you see!
