Hilary Crane-Stern's Profile

About

My name is Hilary and I love creating and illustrating. I absolutely love cartoons and have been drawing and watching them my whole life.

I love how illustrations look drawn with a pencil, pen, ink and I love how they look drawn with my finger on the track pad on the computer. They are all completely different styles, and equally brilliant.

All of the art you will find here is original and handmade by me. I create the designs that I print by hand onto kids' and adult t-shirts, kids' karate pants, hoodies, totes and scarves. My process is: I carve my original illustration into a block print, and then using a mix of screen printing ink and fabric ink I hand print the illustrations onto the fabric. My process is: I carve my original illustration into a block print, and then using a mix of screen printing ink and fabric ink I hand print the illustrations onto the fabric. The combination of paints and pressure gives a vintage look where the paint doesn't stand off the fabric in traditional screen printing style, it becomes part of the fabric.

I also create prints and canvases from my illustrations. I carve some of the illustrations into stencils and then I spray paint them onto canvas. Other illustrations are drawn, printed by me and then framed.

I play and draw with my son Max by day and work into the wee hours of the morning in our basement to finish orders, carve out prints and create.

I feel so lucky to do what I do. Thanks for your support. As I enter year 2 I look with wonder at what it will bring! Thanks for a wonderful first year of business!
