A teacher by day, I began designing jewelry as a way to actually "finish" something. It seems as a teacher that no matter how hard you work, there are always lessons to plan, classes to teach, students to tutor, and papers to grade...So I started taking silversmithing classes. From there, I read every book I could find on the subject. When I finished those, I moved to beads and beadwork. I have also taken gem faceting-but I think I'll leave that to the professionals!
That was eight years ago. Over these years, I have refined my techniques and worked to develop an individual "style".
I am drawn to natural gemstones and sterling silver. I especially love rough faceted nuggets--anything with a visible texture. My other favorite that shows up in just about everything I do is pearls. [I had an ethical dilemma about whether pearl harvesting is compatible…
