About

Hello hello!!
My name is Jane. Jane Carvey to be formal.
Honeybee was a cute nickname I acquired and I thought it fit me and my art very well.

Paintings::: I graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in 2009 and I am a foodie to the core. The majority of my paintings are of food. Theres something comforting about walking into a room and seeing a canvas painting of some heirloom tomatoes or orange slices swirled around cinnamon sticks. My paintings inspire me to cook and my cooking inspires me to paint. Sometimes, just for fun, I like to take a few of my doodles and paintings and replicate them on cards, so sometimes those will be on here as well. I use acrylics, mainly the kind meant for ceramics, but they come in the best colors.

Sock Creatures::: These guys are just fun. I love how they don’t have to be anything…

I love how they don’t have to be anything at all and yet they reflect such personality and charisma. I have a strange love for buttons and exposed stitching, so my hand sewn sock friends are my way of expressing my playful side. Sometimes I use other fabrics, but they usually all start with socks because socks have the best textures, colors and durability.

Knits::: My friends Sarah and Alli taught me how to knit 5 years ago. I was so fascinated watching them make scarves for Christmas, I quickly learned. Now I make scarves, washcloths, and sock monkeys. The sock monkeys take the LONGEST, but they’re the most popular of my knits. The washcloths(I have to be honest) are crocheted, mainly because I don’t know how to crochet anything else but a square. Hehe. I like to knit in the fall so the scarves and such can be used as Christmas gifts. Winter’s always warmer with a hug from a cozy yarn scarf.

Fun Facts::: Im 26, Im an aquarius, and a big lover of nature. I recycle and try to be as environmentally friendly as possible. I love warm sunshine and squishing sand between my toes, which is easy being born and raised in sunny San Diego, California. I took every art class in high school, went to beauty school, and followed that with culinary school. Ive always been artistic, whether through photography, drawing or painting, sewing or needlework, etc etc. Ive always been a DIY type of girl. When I was very young, my dad used to roll out a sheet of butcher paper on the coffee table and let me go to town with a big box of crayons. I don’t know life without art, life would be dull and monochromatic in shades of gray. I have a shih-Tzu named Thomas, he’s a rescue and he’s 3. And I drive a 1973 super beetle I named Olivia that was handed down from my grandma to my dad to me.

I hope you like my treasures... because they mean the world to me.

“Cooking is like love, it should be entered into with abandon or not at all.”
