hello there!

my name is irena and i am the owner of http://www.etsy.com/shop/irrena.
the bobbin lace items in iCipka shop are belongings of Jakica, who makes these things for hobby as well. it takes her up to six hours to make the swan, for example, so you could approximately calculate all other items. the lace she's using is bought in special stores and it takes a lot of patience, knowledge and love for making them. she's been doing it for more than 45 years, more better - since she was a little girl of 10, for that was the tradition in places she grew up.

in slovenia, there is an important tradition of lacemaking, in a town called idrija, close to the place where Jakica was born. it was huge in 18th century, but over the years it decreased. women nowadays are trying to leave the knowledge to the young generations, but the interest will never reach its heights again.

the thin lace is wrapped around the needles in a round pillow and gently braided with help of the bobbins.
