Hi there!
We're Julie and Joe, a husband and wife team based in Chicago, IL. I am a chef and recipe developer with a fashion design background. I try to encourage people to relax and enjoy cooking through our food blog, chefjulieyoon.com. My husband is an art director and graphic designer who handles the technical side and some of the photography on our site. I guess you can say, we really are two halves of a whole!

We launched Small Bites together on January 2012. The concept of our line came to us after both of our siblings and most of our close friends became first time parents. We witnessed how challenging it was for them to get their kids to eat.

Some parents worried that their kids weren't getting enough of the right kind of nutrition, while others had difficulty getting their little ones interested in sitting down to a proper meal at all. And there were quite a few who would say that they felt like a "short order cook," having to make several different things at dinner time to appease picky palates.

Through listening to these parents and teaching cooking classes, I started learning that if you educate children about healthy eating habits and cooking in a fun and interesting way, they will be more open to trying new foods, and eating well.

That's why we started out our line with cute and quirky food character baby onesies and cheerful illustrated recipe prints. We hope to continue creating more products that might encourage kids and their families to develop a healthy relationship with food and cooking, but most of all, we want to make them smile!
