Carrie Kohl's Profile

About

Hi, my name is Carrie Hornkohl although I only use the last half Kohl as my artist name. I sign all my work Carrie Kohl.

I have always loved creating things, my family are all a talented bunch!

I've been doing woodwork in art form since 2007. Back in the early 90's my father wanted a fishing rod holder and asked me to make him one since I was always crafty. I wanted to make him something special so I came up with the idea of carving a fish on both the upper and lower sections. That was my first wood creation.

I've been doing woodwork in art form since 2007. Back in the early 90's my father wanted a fishing rod holder and asked me to make him one since I was always crafty. I wanted to make him something special so I came up with the idea of carving a fish on both the upper and lower sections. That was my first wood creation.

. I lost my job when the recession hit and was just trying to sell my jewelry at craft shows and flea markets but I needed something that men would like also.

I started thinking about that rod holder I made my father and decided to make another one as I live in a fishing mecca in Florida. Since then I have branched out into plaques and housewares.

The company that made my weather proof foam ( to protect the ends of the rod) went out of business so I'm trying a new design for the rods which is why there are no rod holders on my site at this time. STAY TUNED!! As my imagination comes up with more ideas I'm sure you'll see many more things.

I have been making jewelry for over twenty years. I started after a friend showed me a silver hammered bracelet and I said I can make that! So he had me make him twenty in brass (which he loved and bought) and my love for creating jewelry was born. You can find my jewelry at https://ImagineJewelry4U.etsy.com I am a bit eclectic in my jewelry and love everything, so when something catches my eye, like chainmaille or wirework, even painting it. I just try it.
