I have loved jewelry ever since I was a little girl trying on the contents of my grandmother’s jewelry box. Gram had a lot of mid-century jewelry, and this probably contributed to my aesthetic, which developed into a love of clean, modern designs.

The name “Sow’s Ear Jewelry” comes from the old saying “making a silk purse from a sow’s ear,” which refers to the talent of making something pretty from something plain. When I'm designing, the question in my mind is often "what is pretty?" and I try to answer the question in a fresh and interesting way.

For me, the exciting thing about designing and making jewelry is that the creation process doesn't end when a piece leaves my worktable; instead, the process continues every time someone wears my jewelry to enhance their unique wardrobe and style.
