Ingrid Browning Lariviere's Profile
When I was growing up, my mom kept a collection of miniature baskets on the shelf above her dresser, and amongst the baskets was a gift a friend had made for her—an impossibly small bird inside of the tiniest birdcage. The whole thing was the size of a thimble, formed of fine wire. The bird perched on a swing that really swung, and the cage had a door that opened and closed.
Every time I looked at it, I had the feeling of finding a pearl inside of an oyster.
This is why I love making jewelry—not for its beauty, though I am always searching for the strange faces of beauty when I’m crafting my work. I love making jewelry for the shock of pleasure a small thing gives.
I hope you’ll find a small pleasure here.
