Jessica Graybill's Profile

About

I grew up on the beaches of Maui and the Big Island, but currently reside in beautiful Santa Barbara. As a student and lover of art, I enjoy many different mediums, but I most enjoy painting (particularly oil) and sculpture (particularly clay and bronze). I love using found objects and I think re-purposing and upcycling is an important technique in art in this day and age, so I try to incorporate that into my work as much as possible; I frequently am found disassembling vintage jewelry and re-inventing it with a modern twist.

Since graduating art school in 2014, I have found myself increasingly appreciative of the quality of handmade goods. The organic shapes and perfect imperfection in each item, evidence that something has been born of human hands, is increasingly scarce in our world of mass production.
