Jacinta A. Meyers' Profile

About

I love history and nature, among many other things. Sometimes my hobbies threaten to overtake my life completely!

Some of my favorite things to do are visit museums, read books, go walking or hiking, go treasure-hunting, be among antiques, and share intellectual conversations over coffee. :) I like to write as well, and am currently working on two novels and a collection of poetry. I also edit, and am working with an author in Ireland on a historical fiction book at the moment. It will be exciting to see this through to print!

Let's see... I also love cats, but we are not allowed to have them where we live. :( However, we also love owls and you can tell by all the owl memorabilia around our apartment!

(If you have anything OWL in your shop, feel free to send me a link in a conversation; as you can tell by what I've bought and what I've added to my hearts, I am an etsy owls fan!)

Other fascinations include mermaids, pirates, wizards, fairies, angels, unicorns and pegasuses (pegasi? XD) and centaurs. I am a water-element through and through, with a little earth thrown in. You can tell by my jewelry, right? XD Pearls and shells and such make their way into my materials all the time. You can find us on the beach in the summer, wading and looking for treasures. :3 As you can imagine, natural materials also make their way into my work: wood, glass, fiber, etc. My style can be very eclectic, but these elements are pretty consistent throughout.

Did I mention I love history?! I LOVE HISTORY. Oh my goodness, I can't get enough of it! You will find an avid fan of antiques and vintage items in me for sure. I used to work as an archaeologist; I grew up reading historical nonfiction and watching the History channel. These days, I am happy to live in a very historical community, very close to places where I can do costumes and reenacting on my own time. :D I love this stuff!

Anyway, so here's a (TMI) look into the brain behind the artwork. ;)
