About

Growing up in western Kansas, I was lucky enough to have a large extended family and most of my childhood consisted of family gatherings, both small and large. I was joyfully entrenched in a life of vegetable and flower gardening in the summers, and quilting and hearing family stories from the past in the winters. My family's summer entertainment was gathering in someone's yard (most of us lived on the same block) in those old metal lawn chairs (remember those?) and visiting until way past dusk. All of us kids would bounce around in the cool grass chasing fireflies (we called them lightening bugs) and putting them in glass jars with holes poked in the lids (and some of my more depraved cousins would smear their poor little bodies around their fingers to make glowing rings - okay, so I may have done this once or twice...!) When our little legs got too itchy from the chiggers and the complaining began everyone would go inside their…

All of us kids would bounce around in the cool grass chasing fireflies (we called them lightening bugs) and putting them in glass jars with holes poked in the lids (and some of my more depraved cousins would smear their poor little bodies around their fingers to make glowing rings - okay, so I may have done this once or twice...!) When our little legs got too itchy from the chiggers and the complaining began everyone would go inside their houses and call it a night. During the long winters, my grandmother hand-quilted the days away on a large wooden quilting frame that my grandfather would set up for her in the spare bedroom. I would play for hours underneath the outstretched quilt, pretending it was my colorful tent and listen to my grandmother tell stories about growing up during the Great Depression.

Growing up, I was surrounded by antiques and vintage items and I didn't even know it! Of course, a lot of those items were not vintage at the time. My family used similar items on a daily basis that I now offer in my shop. I grew up surrounded by beautiful things, not necessarily expensive things, but things that were lovely in design and were also useful to my family. I have always had a love of old rusted metal, weathered wood, bubbled glass that was stained with age, dirt encrusted objects that I would find on the ground, and just about anything that showed a sense of history and age (except my crow's feet, but that is another story). There is beauty in age and I love surrounding myself with items that are rich with history.

The items we choose to surround ourselves with tell so much about who we are as individuals, and they help define our ever-changing life stories. I love hunting for beautiful, unique, and interesting items that I hope will enhance your home and the story of your life like they have enhanced mine. I won't put anything into my shop that I wouldn't love to have in my own home - in fact, some of my treasures end up finding their forever homes with me! I very much enjoy hunting for, collecting, and bringing to you items that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing, just like the items I grew up with. I hope you will take a peek at my shop and that you will enjoy the items that I have curated for the shop. God bless and have an awesome day!
