PHOTOGRAPHY (www.jancannonphotography.com)

Many of my photographs have been digitally processed and as a result they have become something almost between a painting and a photograph. I have also found that some pictures just can't be adjusted to any better state. Nature’s manifestation was so perfect in it’s original expression that nothing can be added to it. In saying that I'm not trying to suggest that I am improving on nature in the pictures that I have manipulated but that with some of my adjustments I have been able to isolate, emphasize, or reveal certain aspects of what I feel is the essence of the scene. That's what the artist does! This is a work in progress and I'm having a great time pursuing it. Thank you for taking the time to look around.

Also, all pictures are priced by size so if you want something in another size that isn't listed please let me know and I'll easily be able to accommodate you. Please keep in mind that the square and rectangular aspects don't translate well between each other, so square pictures can be any size square and the same is true for pictures with a rectangular aspect, they will generally work better as rectangles. That said, there are some exceptions so please inquire.

POTTERY (www.jancannonpottery.com)

I have made pottery for over 20 years. My work is in the British Museum, The Crocker Art Museum and many private collections.

In the mid 1980s I studied ceramics at the Radcliffe Pottery Studio in Somerville, MA. I have also spent nearly two years in Asia, studying ceramics in China, Korea, Japan and Thailand.

I was an artist-in-residence in Calhoun College at Yale University and director of the ceramics program at Creative Arts Workshop in New Haven, Connecticut. In 1993 I established my own pottery studio in Charlotte, Vermont. I have served on the board of directors for the Vermont Crafts Council, The Ferrisburgh Artisan’s Guild and the Shelburne Art Center.

FILMS (www.jancannonfilms.com)

I have over 20 years of experience working on commercial, industrial, documentary, and feature films. I have specialized in documentary films related to sustainability and art.

My films, distinguished by a strong artistic sensibility, have additionally been influenced by my two decades of experience working as a studio potter. With a strong sense of visual composition, precise editing skills, and keen ability to connect with people, I am able to help clients and subjects share their ideas and tell their stories in compelling and elegant ways.
